Arboretum Site Coming to Thedford
The 2020 Greener Towns program recently awarded landscape funding to the Upper Loup Natural Resources District. The funds will be used to improve local green infrastructure for pollinator habitat, manage stormwater, or accomplish other economic, environmental, aestethic, and social goals.
The Upper Loup Natural Resources District will be planting an arboretum which will be located across the street from the ULNRD office and will surround the Thedford Rural Fire and Rescue Hall. This project will create a space for adult and youth education, provide research for plant selection in the Sandhills, while also beautifying and reducing erosion and run-off in the area around the fire hall.
There will be a public informational meeting about the project early next year. The Greener Towns program is coordinated by the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum and funded by the Nebraska Environmental Trust.
